Valentine's Day Getaway (sortof)

This weekend we went on a semi-romantic getaway to Janelia Farm. For those of you who don't know, this is actually Mattias' work site, that just happens to have conference and hotel facilities as well. Since Farmor Kerstin has been away in Sweden, Mattias and Magnus have been working hard as daddy/farfar daycare while I'm at work. This weekend was Mattias' attempt to make up for lost work hours during the week AND have fun times with the family.

Linus loves to chill in his tent, or as we call it, "Linus Containment Device".

The Zen hotel rooms were conducive to napping, for both me and Linus. Did I mention these rooms are only $35/night, complete with huge bathtub and wall to wall views?
At night the on-site restaurant had a special 4 course Valentine's menu- all for $16. Here's the boys with the first course seafood appetizer- jumbo shrimp, jumbo scallop, crab cake, and some kind of sashimi on toast.

The main course was a filet mignon wrapped in bacon with potatoes and tri-colored carrots. We didn't even know that carrots came in 3 colors!
The rest of the night was spent drinking until 12AM, when Linus decided to cry every 30 minutes. Then at 4AM Mattias came up with the genius idea of putting him to sleep in the stroller and letting him stay there (instead of the tent or our bed.) This gave us a lovely 3 hours of continuous sleep :)

Linus' mobility is only getting more and more coordinated. While not a full crawl, the caterpillar is all he needs to search and destroy anything that seems to be of value to mamma.

Even though Mattias was working, the weekend was wonderfully relaxing for me. The weather was great (and I enjoyed the blue skies from inside) and while I took care of Linus I got to watch trashy cable shows like E! News, Fashion Police, and What Not To Wear. Heaven! Mattias would pop in and say hello, we even went on a hike to the Potomac River.

Linus crawled around and discovered himself in the mirror.

In a not-so-flattering pose. But you can really appreciate the chompers on this guy.

This one's a little bit more flattering :)

In other Linus news, he is now a carnivore! I went on a baby food cooking spree and made him chicken, sweet potato, apple, and garlic mush. Then, to expose him to more spices I made curry carrots and acorn squash. Both have been pretty popular so far.

Now that I'm starting to feel back to normal (post-mastitis and cold) I'm getting ready for my trip to San Francisco. Linus and I are so excited to see friends and family, as well as eat all kinds of yummy food. I even get to attend Melissa's baby shower in Davis, which should be really fun. For those of you on the West Coast, Linus can't wait to be with you!
