In like a lion...

Much to the kids' dismay, we only received a couple of dustings this winter, none of them sled-worthy and certainly not snowman producing.  We were really hoping for a big one, one for them to remember since this is their last real winter before heading back to California.  My parents flew in from California last week, and they were treated to the "biggest" snowstorm of the year.  "Snowquester" like Congress, was a huge disappointment, bringing more cold rain and slush than snow.
We hunkered down inside, opting to bring the wet snow inside for the kids to play with.  We read a lot of books, made a fire, and pulled out a lot of long neglected toys.
My dad had a great time playing with trucks, trains, and boardgames.  You know you're getting old when a 4-year old beats you at "Memory"!
The following night we celebrated Kerstin's birthday with a fancy home cooked dinner.  Because going to a restaurant would be impossible...
Our parents were able to catch up, and talk about the near future when all of them will be living in the same town again.  The boys behaved because they were promised the whipped cream laden whisk attachment for dessert.
Their visit was much about meeting their third grandson for the very first time, but my parents always make a point to help out as much as they can.  Our floors were swepted, rugs taken outside and beaten, and the remainder of our giant mulch pile spread outside.  Thanks dad!  We were treated to my mom's cooking (the best beef stew, ever) and never had to do a single dish while they were here.
But there as a whole lot of baby cuddling, for sure.  And for the bigger kids?  Lolo and Lola brought candy!
It was a visit that flew by too quickly. We were so busy with tumbling class, the new children's museum, and keeping up with the kids in general, that we didn't get around to taking too many photos.  But we did manage this one on the last day of their visit, of my parents and their four grandkids.
The weather is finally starting to warm, coaxing the daffodils out of the ground and the Karlsson boys outside to play.
