We celebrated Magnus on a typically clear and sunny October Saturday at the Walter Haas Playground. It had been a while since we rented an inflatable bounce house so I decided to surprised the boys. Not only did we have a ton of space to run around, the park came with a view of the city.
Magnus tends to be the ringleader of many games during recess and afterschool and his party was no different. It didn't take long before a never-before-played game was in effect and led my Magnus.
The birthday cake scene was nothing less than joyous raucous. Magnus is so blessed to have so many friends.
On his real birthday he begged for soup dumplings for his special dinner. It so happened a new place opened just 5 minutes away from us. Lola treated him to a shoulder massage while we waited.

The night ended with our entire family crowding around to watch him open his gifts.
Magnus at 9 is a mini-teenager. Easy going as a little kid, he now has strong sensitivities to how others treat him and a moodiness I never expected. His friends are very close and his real motivation for going to school, where he feels liked and part of a group. In fact he's so well liked he tends to be the class clown and main distractor in class, and we get regular emails from his poor teacher.
A lover of strong flavors, the boy who knows how to bring the fun, who's not afraid to express himself through dance-- our Magnus.
