School's Out for Summer!

We've made a tradition of whisking Linus away on his last day of school, to kick of summer right.  Last year we head straight for Lassen Volcanic National Park. This year we decided to keep it simple and spend the weekend at the family cabin.  First stop was Impossible Acres Farm in Davis, CA.  I loved coming here in college and vet school for incredibly cheap and fresh stone fruits.  It's apricot and boysenberry season, and our boys love low hanging fruit.
Same ol' shenanigans, except they never get old.
Kerstin brought paint and supplies for the kids to decorate river rocks.
Anders decided to decorate himself.  After cleaning him up we set up for happy hour.
The bigger kids loved going on "adventures" both upstream and on the little island just 15 feet away. Anders continued to hone his innate climbing abilities.
Night time was all about the campfire and s'mores.

We slept well in our brand new 6-person tent/mansion, that we got from my parents for Christmas.  It was also Anders'  first time sleeping in both a tent and sleeping back.
We never really "rough it" when it comes to food.  Pancakes and the works?  Yes please!
The following week Linus had the entire week off to goof off with his brothers.  On my day off I braved the California Academy of Sciences with all 3 boys, which brought back memories from our first San Francisco summer together.

Later in the week, Linus got to come to work with me in Berkeley.  I usually start the day with a 2.5 mile run around the lake, so Linus volunteered to bike alongside.
The trip took longer than usual because Linus loves to stop and observe things. He got really excited about a duck with 3 new ducklings.
When we had to get down to business, Linus kept us entertained with jokes.
He was still interested in the animals and surgeries, but he also liked getting a little computer game time.
For lunch, Lolo treated us to McDonalds, which we enjoyed on the sunny patio.  Not bad for a day at "work."
While Linus has 4 weeks of super fun day camps planned here in the city, I would say that he looks forward most to swimming in Farmor's pool in Milpitas.
