Patiently waiting...

We are officially at 40 weeks and are still awaiting the arrival of our little person! While Mattias and I are summoning all of our patience, it can be hard at times with all of the texts, emails, and "Any news?" comments we get from all of our friends and family. Trust me, when it happens, we will sure to alert the troops ASAP ;)

Here we are at our 40 week check with a midwife. We get a little bored since all they do is weigh, measure my belly, and check my blood pressure. The midwife was very encouraging and definitely made us feel more ready.

Mattias passes the time by taking pictures of me and the animals.

Maternity leave has been really nice. After the first week of obsessive cleaning and organizing, I've tired out a bit and am now just enjoying all of the down-time and sleep that I won't be getting as a new mommy.

Visiting the Exploratorium and Palace of Fine Arts

Going to Opera at the Ballpark. Note the super soft grass and swollen pregger feet :) It was 92 degress in San Francisco!!!

So far, no plans for this week. Just to keep cool, stay patient, and get ready for all the work ahead. Stay tuned and please comment if you're reading this!

Baby Shower Madness!

The month of May was filled with lots of baby events! From weekly prenatal yoga to our birth prep classes, we had our hands full. But we were also blessed to have friends and family show their support by throwing us 3! baby showers.

The first one was on a lovely Sunday evening at Miette Confisserie in San Francisco. Hosted by Melissa, it was a classy ladies only affair. On the menu were savory bites made by Melissa, a yummy cheese assortment, and sweet treats provided by Miette.

There was a baby t-shirt decorating station set up and friends eargerly got to work on their wearable masterpieces.
The final products were wonderful little reminders of our friends. There were gifts upon countless gifts as well. From the practical car seat to a book titled "How to Traumatize Your Children" (which I don't think Mattias and I will need any extra help in doing!)

The entire affair was amazing, and I felt so lucky to have all my best girlfriends there to support me.

While we were behaving ourselves at Miette, the boys had Belgian beer, fries, and my credit card around the corner at Frjtz. Who knew a boys' shower would be so popular? At around 11PM and after 6 pints of Lefe, Mattias was drunk and I had to drive home!

The next shower was a tea held at Sweeteas in San Mateo, hosted by my boss Linda and coworker Tricia.

Everything was perfectly laid out and scrumptious!

Cute favors and menus made by Tricia. This favor was labelled especially for me with my most frequent complaint at work ;)

Everyone was so generous and I was especially impressed with the number of beautiful handmade gifts I recieved. Linda made an entire newborn tie-dye wordrobe, Elizabeth made Minnomonster (sort-of like an Ugly Doll, but DIY and way cooler,) and Steve made a hilarious "baby" picture of Gus that will adorn our future nursery.

The third shower was a family affair with 50+ attendees! My mom invited our extended family, her coworkers, the church group, and (what seemed to be the entire) San Felipe, Zambales Association of Northern California (our hometown in the Philippines!) We were also lucky enough to have a Mattias' childhood friends stop by as well. What was supposed to be a 2-5PM party lasted until 7 for most people, and 11 for Mattias' friends. All I can say is that the excitement and support from everyone has really been amazing and we feel so lucky to bring our new little person into the world with so many loving people in the wait.

FYI- today is my very first day of maternity leave. I was starting to get carpal tunnel in my right hand/wrist and walking around the shelter was getting very difficult, so I left about a week sooner than I originally planned. I was hoping to work until 1 week before my due date :( So, if you're in the neighborhood or feel like visiting me in the city, give me a call!
